The short version
- Donty is a productivity assistant, not a medical service or an emergency service. AI can make mistakes, so check anything important.
- Plans start with a 7-day free trial, then renew automatically through the App Store or Google Play until you cancel.
- Your price is protected for life while you stay subscribed: it only rises in line with inflation or VAT changes, and we’ll tell you first.
- What you put into Donty is yours. You can export it or delete it at any time.
- Nothing here takes away your legal rights as a consumer.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and CH Ventures, trading as Donty (“we”, “us”, “our”). They apply when you use the Donty app and this website. By creating an account or using Donty, you agree to them. Please read them alongside our privacy policy, which explains how we use your information.
If you’re using Donty as a consumer in the UK, you have legal rights that these terms don’t affect. Where anything here seems to conflict with those rights, your rights win.
2. Who can use Donty
You must be 18 or over to use Donty. Donty is a personal app: your account is for you alone.
3. Your account
- Give us an email address you can access. We use it to sign you in and to contact you about your account.
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app’s Settings, or by contacting us.
4. What Donty is, and what it isn’t
Donty is an AI-powered assistant that helps you capture, organise and plan things, and reminds you about them.
- It isn’t medical. Donty isn’t a medical device and doesn’t diagnose, treat, cure or manage ADHD or any other condition. It isn’t a substitute for advice from a doctor, therapist or other professional.
- It isn’t for emergencies. Never rely on Donty in an emergency. If you or someone else is in danger, call 999 (or your local emergency number).
- AI can make mistakes. Donty can misunderstand what you say or get details wrong, such as dates, times or names. Donty shows you what it understood, but please check anything important.
- Reminders depend on your phone. Reminders and alarms rely on your phone’s settings, battery, operating system and, sometimes, an internet connection. We work hard to make them reliable, but we can’t guarantee every alert will arrive. Please don’t rely on Donty alone for anything where a missed reminder could cause serious harm, such as time-critical medication.
5. Subscriptions, free trials and payment
Plans
Donty is available as a monthly or yearly subscription. Both include all of Donty’s features. The current UK prices are £7.99 a month or £59.99 a year, including VAT. Prices in other countries are shown in local currency in the App Store or Google Play before you subscribe.
Free trial
- New subscribers get a 7-day free trial. Apple and Google may limit free trials to one per account.
- Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before your trial ends, your subscription starts automatically when the trial ends, and you’ll be charged the price you were shown when you started the trial.
- If you buy a subscription during a free trial, any unused part of the trial ends when the subscription starts.
Payment and automatic renewal
- Subscriptions are bought through the App Store or Google Play, and payment is taken by Apple or Google, not by us. We never see your card details.
- Your subscription renews automatically for the same length (a month or a year) unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Here’s how. Deleting the app or your Donty account doesn’t cancel your subscription.
Price protection for life
Once you subscribe, the price of your plan won’t go up for as long as your subscription to that plan continues without a break (a short pause while Apple or Google retries a failed payment doesn’t count as a break), with two exceptions. First, we may increase it in line with inflation, no more than once in any 12 months and by no more than the most recent annual rate of the UK Consumer Prices Index (CPI) published by the Office for National Statistics (or, outside the UK, the equivalent official measure where you live). Second, if VAT or a similar tax on your subscription changes, the price may change to reflect it.
We’ll tell you at least 30 days before any increase, and you can cancel before it takes effect. Apple or Google may also ask you to agree to the new price. If you switch to a different plan, or your subscription ends and you subscribe again later, the price at that time applies.
Cancelling and refunds
- If you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you’ve already paid for. After that, your subscription won’t renew.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies. For iPhone, request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. For Android, use Google Play, or contact us if it’s been more than 48 hours since you paid.
- If you’re a consumer in the UK, you may have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of buying a subscription. Apple and Google handle these requests in line with the law and their terms. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights.
6. Your allowance and fair use
- Your subscription includes 300 saves a month. A save is when Donty adds or changes something for you, such as a task, event, note or reminder.
- Asking questions, chatting, check-ins and changes you make by hand don’t count towards your saves. Questions and chat have a fair-use limit, currently 60 messages in any 24 hours, which is there to stop misuse, not to get in the way of normal use.
- Your allowance resets every month. Unused saves don’t carry over.
- If you reach your allowance, you can still see and use everything you’ve saved and ask Donty questions. Saving new things starts again when your allowance resets.
- We may change allowances in the future. We won’t reduce your allowance during a period you’ve already paid for, and we’ll tell you before any reduction takes effect.
7. Your content
- Everything you say, type or save in Donty (“your content”) belongs to you.
- You give us permission to store, process and send your content, including to the AI and other providers listed in our privacy policy, only so we can provide Donty to you. This permission ends when you delete your content or your account, except for backups that are deleted shortly afterwards.
- You can use Donty’s replies and suggestions however you like.
- You’re responsible for your content, including any information you add about other people. Please only add what you have a right to share.
8. Using Donty responsibly
Please don’t:
- use Donty for anything illegal, harmful, abusive or fraudulent
- try to get around your allowance, fair-use limits or security features
- copy, change, reverse-engineer or resell Donty, except where the law allows it
- use automated tools to access Donty or put an unreasonable load on our systems
- use Donty to build a competing product, or to train other AI models
If you break these rules seriously or repeatedly, we may suspend or close your account (see section 12).
9. Our rights in Donty
Donty, including its software, design, name and logo, belongs to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the Donty app on devices you own or control, for as long as you have an account and in line with these terms and the rules of the store you downloaded it from. We keep all other rights.
10. Other services Donty works with
- Donty works with services you already use, like your phone’s calendar, Siri and your phone’s speech recognition. Those services have their own terms, which you must follow, and they belong to their providers, not us.
- If you ask Donty to change a meeting you organised, your calendar provider may send the update to the other attendees, just as if you’d changed it in your Calendar app.
- Some features, like weather and travel times, use information from other providers. We can’t guarantee it’s always accurate.
11. Changes to Donty and to these terms
- We’re always improving Donty, so features may change. If we make a change that significantly reduces what you’ve paid for, we’ll tell you in advance, and you can cancel and get a refund for the unused part of any period you’ve paid for.
- We may update these terms, for example to reflect new features or changes in the law. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you don’t agree, you can cancel your subscription and delete your account before then.
12. Ending your use of Donty
- You can stop using Donty at any time, cancel your subscription in your store settings and delete your account in the app.
- We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we have to by law. Where it’s reasonable, we’ll warn you first and give you a chance to put things right.
- If we ever decide to stop running Donty, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice and the chance to export your data, and refund the unused part of any period you’ve paid for.
- Where a refund is due under this section, we’ll arrange it through Apple or Google where they allow it, or pay it to you directly if they don’t.
13. Our responsibility to you
- We’ll provide Donty with reasonable care and skill. If we fail to, and that causes you loss that was foreseeable when you agreed to these terms, we’re responsible for it. We’re not responsible for loss that wasn’t foreseeable.
- If digital content we supply damages a device or digital content belonging to you, and that’s because we didn’t use reasonable care and skill, we’ll either repair the damage or pay you fair compensation.
- We don’t limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
- Donty is designed for personal use, including organising your working life. If you use it on behalf of a business, we’re not responsible to that business for lost profits, lost business or lost opportunities, and our total liability to that business is limited to the amount paid for Donty in the 12 months before the claim.
14. If you downloaded Donty from the App Store
These extra terms apply if you got Donty from Apple’s App Store. If they conflict with the rest of these terms, they take priority.
- Agreement. These terms are between you and CH Ventures only, not Apple Inc. (“Apple”). We, not Apple, are solely responsible for Donty and its content. These terms don’t give you any rights that conflict with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- Licence. We give you a non-transferable licence to use Donty on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as allowed by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, except that Donty may also be accessed by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing or volume purchasing.
- Maintenance and support. We alone are responsible for providing maintenance and support for Donty, as set out in these terms or as required by law. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for Donty.
- Warranty. We alone are responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent they aren’t effectively disclaimed. If Donty fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for Donty (if any) to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Donty, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses caused by a failure to meet a warranty are our sole responsibility.
- Product claims. We, not Apple, are responsible for dealing with any claims from you or anyone else relating to Donty or your possession or use of it, including: (a) product liability claims; (b) any claim that Donty fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement; and (c) claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws. These terms don’t limit our liability to you beyond what the law allows.
- Intellectual property. If anyone claims that Donty, or your possession or use of it, infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
- Legal compliance. You confirm that you’re not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you’re not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Our contact details. Questions, complaints or claims about Donty should go to: CH Ventures, [your business address]. Email: hello@donty.app. Phone: [a contact phone number].
- Third-party terms. When using Donty, you must comply with any third-party agreements that apply to you, such as your mobile network or internet provider’s terms.
- Third-party beneficiary. You and we agree that Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and that once you accept them, Apple will have the right (and will be treated as having accepted the right) to enforce these terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
15. If you downloaded Donty from Google Play
If you got Donty from Google Play, your use of Google Play is also covered by Google’s own terms. These terms are between you and us, and Google isn’t responsible for Donty.
16. Complaints, disputes and the law
- If you’re unhappy, please contact us first. We’ll do our best to put things right quickly.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts, and if you live elsewhere you keep any protections your local consumer law gives you.
- Apart from Apple as described in section 14, nobody else has any rights under these terms.
- If a court decides part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
